The EU AI Act compliance deadline moved. The business risk didn't.

The EU AI Act classifies AI used in recruitment and employment decisions as high-risk. It does not make hiring AI illegal, it regulates it, and employer obligations apply from 2 December 2027. This piece walks through what that means in practice: where AI sits in your process, who owns oversight, and what documentation you are expected to hold. In the UK, the ICO examined the automated hiring practices of thirty employers in spring 2026 and found most of them falling short of what the law already asks.
